First off: this isn’t a form that you have to copy and paste when describing your character. Although, that’s perfectly acceptable :]
Most importantly, this is a listing of things that would be good ideas to describe about your character to us. As your fellow roleplayers, we need to know more than “Her name is Jane Doe.“ It’s important, because in order for everyone to have a good time, characters have to be believable, and they have to be able to interact with other characters in a believable way.
If you’re not sure as to how to deepen your character, try looking here, and applying some of these ideas to your character. If your short on ideas, steal one of these categories, and add it into your character’s description.
Some things to consider…
WHAT IS HER NAME? Simple, yet very important. If your character has an interesting story behind her name, feel free to include it here! Also include: nicknames, and God/Goddess names. Example: My character’s name is Beannaithe, his nickname is Bea, and when he loses his temper and channels his darker God-mode, he goes by Griosaigh.
HOW OLD IS SHE, AND WHEN WAS SHE BORN? Also simple stuff. But also as equally as important as her name. Please note: character’s younger than 11 and older than 22 are not allowed. This roleplay is based around teenagers, not toddlers and middle-aged adults.
WHERE WAS SHE BORN? This is very important. A character born in the country is going to have been raised differently than a character born in a large city. The place of birth should play a part on your character’s values, morals, and overall way of life. This also plays a part in character description, because facial traits and body structure varies from place-to-place.
DESCRIBE HER FAMILY. First of all, don’t go off TOO much on parents. Most of us will know who Zeus, Neptune, and the other immortals are, so lengthy descriptions of mythical gods aren’t needed. However, feel free to describe other family members your character has. If you share a parent with another member, you can include if you were raised with your siblings or not, etc. If your character has children, be sure to mention them here.
WHAT’S HER STATUS? Is your character dating? Married? Divorced? Widowed? Please let us know! This is also important to other roleplayers, as it gives us a deeper insight into your character. A divored/widowed character is going to be slightly more on-edge, while a married character will (mostly) be happier and more upbeat.
A BRIEF HISTORY. Brief. It’s okay to be detailed, but it isn’t necessary to write dozens of pages of your character’s history. Examples of history: If she has moved, tell us where and why. Her family history - were her ancestors carpenters? Architects? Beggars? You also might include how she came to know about her being a Goddess, and how she came to learn of her powers. Speaking of…
DESCRIBE HER TITLES. Key word being “describe.” Don’t simply list what her titles are. If she’s the Goddess of Microsoft, please let us know what that means, how your character feels about it (remember, if your character is slightly “tainted” or “evil,” she might not embrace her powers fully), and how she shows her powers. Feel free to list things she does with her powers, such as using them for good or evil purposes, as well as ways she unleashes attack moves (this is an action roleplay :] No combat would be boring!)
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE. Be detailed here. One of the most important descriptions of your character is their physical appearance. As co-roleplayers, we need to know what she looks like, or else we’re not able to fully get into the roleplay! Again, don’t be shy on details. We’d love to know exactly what shade her hair is, how long (or short!) it is, if she has a small or not-so-small nose, if she has wrinkly hands or smooth hands. Be creative.
You could also list how she comes off in appearance to others. Example: She might constantly look like she’s upset, even when she’s perfectly happy and content.
HOW DOES SHE DRESS? Again, detail, detail, detail. While we’re talking about clothing here… we are an original roleplay. While it is perfectly acceptable for her to wear jeans and a t-shirt, we’re not too fond of her wearing Abercrombie jeans, or an American Eagle t-shirt. Mass-market clothing brands aren’t really a part of our world, because it brings down the fantasy level, and makes the roleplay seem more modernized.
Also. While we’re on the subject. Many of the characters have God/Goddess sides, or, a being that sort of “takes” over their body when your character is in super-combat mode. Don’t be afraid to create a totally different look for them here! For example: while my character, Bea, loves to walk around in jeans and a comfortable t-shirt, but when he goes into God-mode, he won’t be seen without his flowing, crimson-colored robes and staff.
WHAT WEAPONS DOES SHE USE? Does your character rely strictly on her magical abilities? Or, is she fond of a good sword-and-shield? Not much detail is needed here, as a sword is generally a sword. But, if your sword randomly catches on fire right before hacking away at an enemy, that might be a good thing to list :]
WHAT’S HER PERSONALITY LIKE? Important! Don’t go shy here! We NEED to know what your character is like personality wise. If ever we have a question during a roleplay, it’s necessary to go into our memory-banks, and figure out how she acts :] Is she temperamental? Friendly? Quiet? Aggressive? Outgoing? The lists can go on and on.
However, if she IS friendly and outgoing, please give examples of how that friendliness shows through to other characters. Is she always willing to help out with her friend’s homework? Run and grab bandages when her comrades are injured? Be creative!
WHAT ARE HER STRENGTHS? This, as well as the following category, are icing on the cake. Mostly, this correlates to personality. Her personality trait of being loyal might be her greatest strength: she can always be counted on in a battle, no matter how high the stakes. Or, you can stray from personality, and go for things like, she’s good with a blade, she’s an amazing math genius, etc.
HER WEAKNESSES? Every character has flaws. EVERY character! My character is prone to fits of anger, and he’s moody to a point of annoyingness sometimes. Anger is Bea’s weakness. Is your character afraid of spiders? Heights? Swimming? Please list them here!
Or, perhaps your character ISN'T afraid of anything, and that's one of her weaknesses ^_~.
WHAT IS SHE MOST ASHAMED OF? This is a small one, but it adds detail and story to your character! Does she have a dark secret that she’s going to take to her grave? Is there a physical trait that shames her? Does that nose stick out a little too far? Be creative!
HOW IS SHE UNIQUE? I can’t explain this, or else your character wouldn’t really be unique :] Be creative. What makes her special? What makes other characters interested in her? What makes other characters not interested? More importantly: what does she bring the the God and Goddess Palace?

There’s nothing worse than a cookie-cutter character that we’ve all seen thousands of times! The mantra of this topic seems to be Be Creative. And please do, indeed!
